Lee Luland is a UK based guitarist, composer and music producer with a modern guitar style incorporating elements of many genres. From hi-tech shred guitar and progressive metal, through to soaring arrangements, Lee’s compositions are packed with melody, technicality and emotion.
He first picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and quickly became obsessed with honing his craft, establishing a proficient technique and secure knowledge of music theory. After studying various genres of music, including rock, blues and jazz, Lee began writing his own music.
He formed the progressive metal band Prospekt and recorded their first album ‘The Colourless Sunrise’ in 2013 which received critical acclaim, featuring on BBC Radio, in Metal Hammer magazine and Kerrang. This earned them a loyal following internationally. The band performed across the UK, playing at various festivals and venues, opening for progressive bands such as Pain of Salvation, Pagans Mind and Voyager.
Over the next few years, Lee continued to perform and record, collaborating with other artists and experimenting with different genres. He released his second album with Prospekt titled ‘The Illuminated Sky’ in 2017 which showed a more mature and introspective side to his songwriting. The album received further critical acclaim and took the band overseas to perform in Europe – the highlight being a performance at ProgPower Festival in the Netherlands.
In 2018 Lee decided to pursue a solo career and released a self produced instrumental guitar album titled ‘Zodiac’ the following year. The album showcased Lee’s growth as an artist – demonstrating leanings towards cinematic orchestration and fusion, as well as virtuosic guitar playing in a metal context.
Today, Lee continues to write, record and teach various forms of music. He aims to approach each project with a keen sense of professionalism and passion that has been the driving force throughout his career.
